Course details

By the end of the course delegates should be able to:

Explain how manual handling injuries can occur
Recognise manual handling risks in the delegates’ own workplaces
Apply simple controls to minimise manual handling risks in the workplace

Office based individuals and any other employees who do not carry out regular heavy lifting would benefit from this course.

The recognition of potentially harmful manual handling activities
The implications of using poor lifting methods
Back injuries and how they can be avoided
The application of safe lifting techniques
The elements of a simple risk assessment

Classroom tuition, discussions and demonstrations by trainer and delegates

Delegates should wear suitable shoes and other clothes to be able to demonstrate safe lifting techniques.

Any delegates having existing physical conditions or injuries that prevent them from taking part in the

demonstrations should make the trainer aware of this.
