Working with our partners across the UK, Agricon is delighted to offer the very popular two-day City & Guilds 6160-09 Confined Space Medium Risk course for Entrants and Entry controllers. This course is for the entry controller/top person who controls entry and arrangements for medium-risk confined spaces and works within them. It includes the duties of an entry controller, pre-entry procedures, preparing to work safely, using equipment and tools safely, entering and exiting the medium-risk confined space, maintaining communications, and initiating and following emergency arrangements. The course will also cover the Confined Space Regulations 1997 in detail and other related regulations, the specified criteria according to the regulations as to what makes a confined space and provide candidates with a solid understanding as to safe working procedures whilst working within, entering and exiting a confined space and if an emergency were to arise forcing an evacuation.

Course details
- A course for any person who needs to develop the essential underpinning skills and knowledge required to plan, enter, work and exit medium-risk confined spaces including tank entry, tunnels and shafts where escape breathing apparatus is a part of the planned means of self-rescue.
- There are two qualification options available for this course: Water & Non-Water.
- The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997
Personal protection and hygiene requirements - Understanding Risk assessment and controls
- Gaseous atmosphere, portable and fixed gas monitoring equipment and its use
- The use of harness, fall arrest and retrieval systems
- The use of compressed air and chemical re-breather escape breathing apparatus and self-rescue procedures
- Safe entry working and exit procedures at confined spaces
- Knowledge and skill exercises for planning, permits, entering, working and exiting confined spaces using escape breathing apparatus as a part of the planned means for self-rescue
- There is a 30 question written exam at the end of the course to confirm attendance and knowledge, along with a comprehensive practical exercise. Delegates must be physically fit and able to carry out the practical exercise.
- Certification – A City & Guilds qualification that lasts three years.
- All candidates must be able to read, write and understand English. All exams and course material must be done in English only.
